Assessment: The respected student from each group will present the collaborative presentation to the class and be assessed using the school wide speaking and demonstration rubric.

Time Required: Time will be allotted each day during 6 50 minute periods.

Materials: headphones, microphones, individual computers with internet access

    3. Discuss with students why it is important to have a trade show in the day of 24 hours news cycle and a hyper connected society.
    4. Review press coverage of a significant announcement from 2013 CES

  1. Review previous lessons on research and media literacy to reinforce that finding information is not always just a Google search.
  2. Instructor reviews Google Presentation and how to begin selecting group partners. The instructor will have prepared a Google Document ahead of time that all students have access too. The students will be provided an opportunity problem solve how to place themselves in the group. The instructor will intervene only when it appears that students or groups are at a stalemate

Homework - collaborate with students from other class to align into groups of 2 or 3

Day 2
Students are now in groups and can begin their projects. They may struggle to begin, allow them to ponder the first step and when necessary assist them in initiating the first step of creating the presentation and sharing to other group members.

Students should review the news from Day 1 of CES and look for significant announcements from the media.

Day 3
Students should review the news from Day 2 of CES and look for significant announcements from the media. Look for trends from the previous day and any predictions. Work with teammate(s) on presentation

Day 4
Students should review the news from Day 3 of CES and look for more announcements from the media. Students should be able to identify trends and begin to make predictions for the future. Continue to work on slides for presentation.

  • Begin “discussing” with teammates how the project will be presented. Identify different team member roles, review and refine slides from previous days

Day 5
Students should review the last ½ day of the CES and work on completing their projects. Presentations will begin the next class period (ideally after a weekend to allow a significant time for collaboration with teammate in other class)

Day 6
Present projects to class.

Completed projects will be posted on the class shared folder in Google Docs for other students to review.
